About the app

Three lengths, ready to paste.

In one sentence

Pocket Umpire keeps the score of your tennis, padel or table tennis match with one tap per point on Apple Watch, so nobody argues about the score again.

Short

Pocket Umpire is the easiest way to keep score in amateur tennis, padel and table tennis. Players tap their Apple Watch after each point, and the score is always right, so the match is about playing, not arguing over whether it was thirty-fifteen. An umpire voice calls the points out loud, which makes every match more fun. Afterwards, each match is saved with its stats and workout, so players can follow how they do against friends and rivals over time, and share the result with great-looking graphics.

Long

Most amateur matches have no umpire, and sooner or later someone loses track of the score. Was it deuce or advantage? Is this the second set or the third? Pocket Umpire settles it. Players score with one tap per point on Apple Watch, and the app keeps the official count for tennis, padel and table tennis, in singles or doubles and in the formats people really play: sets or running points, golden point or deuce and advantage, tie-breaks and super tie-breaks. The iPhone shows a live scoreboard both sides can trust, and the match stays about the tennis instead of the discussion.

An umpire voice calls the score out loud, with the players' names in it: "Game, Alex." "Advantage, Daniel." It's the fun part, and it gives a casual match a bit of the atmosphere of a real one. The same clarity makes Pocket Umpire useful for organizers, referees and players at small club and amateur tournaments, where there is rarely a chair umpire on every court.

Every finished match is kept with points won set by set, service breaks, game lengths, and the workout from Apple Health with heart rate and calories. The Court Report turns that into a picture of a season: matches, hours on court, win rate, and the record against each friend and rival, so players can see how their game evolves. When a match is worth celebrating, any result becomes a card for social media or the group chat, on a classic layout, over a match photo, or on one of four broadcast scoreboards styled after the big tournaments.

About the developer

Pocket Umpire is made by Natan Rolnik, an iOS developer and a tennis and padel player in permanent beta: plenty of new shots, and a backhand that still ships with known issues. It was built for the matches where nobody remembers whether it was thirty-fifteen or fifteen-thirty.
